Penn State Hazleton to host Lion Scholar dual enrollment information session

Penn State Hazleton will hold an information session at 5:30 p.m. May 17 for high school students interested in taking classes at the campus and earning college credits at a reduced rate. The event will be held in 115 Evelyn Graham Academic Building and is open to students who will be high school juniors and seniors in fall 2017. Parents also are encouraged to attend.
Sandra Harrigan-Thompson and Dr. Stephen Migueles, captain of the United States Public Health Service, will speak at Penn State Hazleton on April 24.

HIV immunity topic of lecture at Penn State Hazleton

The Lectures and Events Committee at Penn State Hazleton will host the annual Mylar Giri Lecture at 7 p.m. April 24 in Room 115 of the Evelyn Graham Academic Building, providing an opportunity for attendees to learn about HIV/AIDS and how a citizen and a scientist joined forces to work toward eliminating the disease. The event is free and open to the public.

Coaches Caravan to stop in Hazleton on May 9

The Penn State Coaches Caravan is returning to the roads of Pennsylvania in May with seven stops across the Commonwealth. James Franklin, the 2016 Big Ten Football Coach of the Year, Director of Athletics Sandy Barbour, and several head coaches will embark on the four-day, seven-stop tour from May 8-11. The coaches will visit Penn State Hazleton for lunch on May 9.

We're sending a "We Are!" to Penn Staters with the Department of Materials Science and Engineering and Penn State Harrisburg, Penn State DuBois and Penn State Hazleton.

Campus research fair winners announced

Penn State Hazleton announced the winners of its 2017 Undergraduate Research Fair. Students created projects in the arts and humanities (including behavioral sciences, business studies and economics) and STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) disciplines under the guidance of faculty members at Penn State Hazleton.

Longtime Penn State Hazleton supporter passes away

Mary M. Lofstrom passed away July 2, 2016, and was interred in Arlington National Cemetery on March 29. She and her husband, Bertil E. “Bert” Lofstrom ’54 were longtime supporters of Penn State Hazleton and Penn State University.
