The 2018 Penn State Day at Knoebels Amusement Park featured the Nittany Lion, fun and a generous community spirit. This year the day took on a giving component, as participants were encouraged to help the northeastern Pennsylvania Penn State alumni societies and chapters honor the region’s veterans.
The Penn State Hazleton Alumni Society is sponsoring a bus trip to the Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts in downtown State College on Saturday, July 14.
Longtime University benefactor Pasco Schiavo recently made a $35,000 gift to establish the Pasco L. Schiavo Open Doors Scholarship. Schiavo created the endowment under the “A Greater Penn State for 21st Century Excellence” campaign and will leverage a 2:1 University match, increasing the scholarship fund to $105,000.
Penn State Hazleton will offer a bachelor of science degree in project and supply chain management beginning in fall 2018, Chancellor Gary Lawler announced. The degree will be offered as part of a consortium with the Schuylkill, Scranton and Wilkes-Barre campuses. The first students will be accepted into the program for a fall 2018 start, and a full complement of upper-level classes will be offered beginning in fall 2019.
