At Penn State Hazleton, our Registered Student Organizations (RSOs), commonly referred to as Clubs and Organizations, are the heart of Student Engagement! You can find more information about our currently active RSOs, join them, or learn how to start up your own RSO by visiting Discover East! Once you're on Discover East, you can then use the filter tools to select and view the Hazleton Campus.

  1. Visit Explore - Penn State Discover
  2. Navigate to the tab "Organizations" at the top of the page. On the left, select your branch (Hazleton Campus), and then you will be able to see all of the active clubs and organizations that Penn State Hazleton has to offer!

Interested in starting an RSO?

  1. Identify Members and Officers
    1. Any student can submit a request to form an RSO. To start, the prospective club must have a minimum of 5 members, which includes these required officer positions to be filled: President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Faculty/Staff Advisor.
      1. Note: Officer roles must be held by different students.
  2. Secure an Advisor
    1. All RSOs are required to have a full-time faculty or staff member, that works at Penn State Hazleton, to serve as their advisor. Reach out to your favorite Professor or Staff member and ask them to advise your RSO! If they accept, they will be asked to accept a set of Advisor conditions later in the registration process.
  3. Create a Constitution
    1. All organizations are required to have a constitution on file. Newly forming organizations that have a national constitution must still include the requirements found in the sample constitution. The constitution will be uploaded into Discover East in the Constitution and Roster section.

  4. Register your New RSO
    1. All materials to start a new organization are submitted within the same process and can be completed by following the instructions below:
      1. Navigate to the tab "Organizations" at the top of the page. On the left, click "Register an Organization". Then, scroll down below "Re-Register Existing" and click "Register a New Organization".
      2. After the New Recognized Student Organization Request has been submitted, the Student Engagement Coordinator will reach out to you to schedule a meeting.
