Julia Carter will serve as the speaker for Penn State Hazleton’s commencement on Friday, May 3, Chancellor Gary Lawler announced. Commencement exercises begin at 7 p.m. in the Thomas M. Caccese Gymnasium of the Physical Education Building.
Corporate communication students from Penn State Scranton and Penn State Hazleton collaborated on a class project that resulted in the first-ever Corporate Communication Day event for the northeast Penn State campuses.

Penn State and the Invent Penn State initiative are honoring the late Pasco L. Schiavo, a longtime champion for Penn State Hazleton and the surrounding community who passed away Dec. 29, 2018, by naming the Hazleton LaunchBox in his name. The naming recognizes Schiavo’s stature in the region and a $1 million gift from his estate to the campus.
Penn State Hazleton has announced the winners of its annual Undergraduate Research Fair. Students created projects in the humanities and social sciences (including behavioral sciences, business studies and economics) and STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) disciplines under the guidance of faculty members at Penn State Hazleton.
At a recent ceremony of Penn State Hazleton’s Phi Sigma chapter of Alpha Sigma Lambda, six adult learners were recognized for their academic accomplishments and inducted into the national honor society.
Every year, an exceptional mentor and women who have shown remarkable professionalism and leadership at Penn State are recognized with two awards: the Rosemary Schraer Mentoring Award and the Achieving Women Award. The 2019 award winners will be honored at a luncheon on Friday, April 26, from noon-1:30 p.m., in the Presidents Hall at the Penn Stater Hotel and Conference Center.
