At an event held on Oct. 31, leaders from the Student Philanthropy Network announced that the class of 2024 has voted to create the University Park Undergraduate Association Basic Needs Endowment as their class gift. The fund will provide sustained support for students facing hardships in pursuit of their degree.

A new student-championed space at Penn State Hazleton dedicated to diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging celebrated its official grand opening on Sept. 26. The Center for Multicultural Engagement is a student fee-funded project that created student education, collaboration, performance, study and socialization spaces, as well as a gallery and library.
Kellina Yarrish will support the University’s commitment to student growth and development by providing oversight and direction for student engagement, including clubs and organizations, and co-curricular activities and events. She will also oversee international student support, multicultural affairs and programming, and the residence life program, including the residence hall staff and resident assistants, while managing the student conduct process and directing the campus’ student diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts.
Penn State Hazleton Benefitting THON, the campus’ THON chapter, will host a designer purse and gift card bingo on Sunday, Oct. 22. Doors open at 1 p.m. and games will start at 2 p.m. in the Dr. Thomas M. Caccese Gymnasium in the Physical Education Building. The event is open to the public.
