Hazleton Yom HaShoah webinar to feature Holocaust survivor, Jewish museum tour

HAZLETON, Pa. — In recognition of Yom HaShoah, or Holocaust Remembrance Day, Penn State Hazleton will host a webinar featuring Holocaust survivor Hanna Wechsler on Tuesday, April 26, at 1 p.m. A virtual tour of the Museum of Jewish Heritage in New York City will follow at 2:30 p.m. Both events are free and open to the public but require advance registration.

Wechsler will recount her harrowing experiences during the Holocaust, from her imprisonment in Auschwitz after fleeing Nazi-occupied Poland, to her eventual escape from the concentration camp, reunion with her family, and life after liberation. Register for the webinar.

The Museum of Jewish Heritage virtual tour, entitled “Meeting Hate with Humanity: Life During the Holocaust,” will examine museum artifacts to explore the impact World War II and the Holocaust had on Jewish lives and communities in Europe. Register for the virtual tour.

The event is sponsored by Penn State Hazleton, the Museum of Jewish Heritage, Temple B’nai B’rith in Wilkes-Barre, and the Mark Schonwetter Holocaust Education Foundation.
