Penn State Wilkes-Barre, Penn State Hazleton and Penn State Scranton came together for the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders’ STEM School Days at PNC Field. The events were held on May 11 and May 24, allowing hundreds of elementary, middle and high school students to attend from a variety of school districts throughout northeastern Pennsylvania.
Open to rising high school sophomores, juniors and seniors, the Teen Entrepreneurship Challenge will run from July 19 to Aug. 9 with a pitch competition on Wednesday, Aug. 16. Classes will meet on Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to noon via Zoom. A top prize of $1,000 will be awarded to the student or team that finishes in first place while the student or team that finishes second will earn a $500 prize.
Students in the bachelor of science in engineering with the alternative energy and power generation track degree program at Penn State Hazleton gained an authentic, hands-on learning experience with model wind and hydropower turbine kits.
