Next Steps for Accepted Students

Congratulations! You did it! You got accepted to Penn State University.

You've been accepted to Penn State! Be proud and celebrate. When you’re done, we have a little more work for you to do, including accepting your admission offer and completing some other University requirements. We know you have a lot to consider as you make this important decision, and we are here to help you each step of the way. Whether you are thinking about your options or have already committed to Penn State, the following information will provide next steps in the enrollment process.

What's next?

If you plan to attend Penn State Hazleton, you must complete the next steps in the enrollment process:

1. You've been admitted!

Upon receipt of a completed application and transcripts, Penn State will offer admission to all qualified applicants. If an offer is not made, you should not assume that your options are closed. Contact the Penn State Hazleton Admissions Office to explore your options at 570-450-3142 or request more information.

2. Submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®)

If you were admitted for the fall 2025 semester…

Please complete your 2025-2026 FAFSA online as soon as possible! If you are transferring from another institution to Penn State, make sure you log into your FAFSA and add Penn State as your institution.

To ensure maximum consideration for all types of aid, Penn State recommends that incoming students complete the FAFSA by February 15. (Returning students should complete the form by April 15.) This means that to maximize your financial aid opportunities, it's strongly recommended that you complete the FAFSA online at studentaid.gov as soon as it becomes available.

The sooner you submit your FAFSA, the better your chances of securing the maximum amount of aid available. This is particularly important because many financial aid programs (such as the Pennsylvania State Grant and institutional scholarships) operate on a first-come, first-served basis, so early applicants get a competitive edge.

All students attending Penn State for the 2025-26 academic year should enter the school code "003329" when filing the 2025-26 FAFSA, regardless of campus choice.

Stay informed about the latest FAFSA changes and deadlines by visiting Penn State's Office of Student Aid website to ensure you're making the most of the financial aid opportunities available to you.

Please check your LionPath account to view your financial aid packages. For more information, read Understanding Your Financial Aid Offer.

If you are an international student, please carefully review the federal aid eligibility requirements. Many international students are unable to complete a FAFSA and are not eligible for federal student aid.

3. Accept your offer

Officially accepting your admission offer tells the University that you intend to enroll. Log in to your MyPennState profile and follow the link to “Accept Your Offer of Admission.”

Please note: We request students accept their offer by May 1 for summer/fall semester. For the spring semester, please check your acceptance letter for the deadline to accept your offer.

First-year and transfer students will be asked to pay a $230 enrollment deposit online when accepting an offer of admission.

4. Attend an Accepted Student Program

Join us Saturday, April 5 for our Admitted Student Program.

5. Participate in New Student Orientation

To make your reservation to attend New Student Orientation (NSO), visit Student Orientation & Transition Programs.

6. Pay your bill

Semester invoices typically arrive about six weeks prior to the start of classes (by late July for the fall semester) and can be paid online through your LionPATH account. International students receive their semester bill after registering for classes, typically in September for the fall semester. You will receive an email when your bill is ready, and if you have questions about your bill or payment plan options, you can contact the Office of the Bursar for more information.

7. Start classes

Congratulations! You're ready to get started! Class times, building names, and room numbers are printed on your class schedule. Contact the Advising Center for more information on scheduling your classes.

For more information, visit Student Orientation & Transition Programs.
