Rosemarie Petrilla, teaching professor of physical therapy and coordinator of the physical therapist assistant (PTA) program at Penn State Hazleton, will serve as guest speaker at the campus’ 54th annual spring commencement ceremony on Friday, May 3, in the Dr. Thomas M. Caccese Gymnasium. Petrilla will retire this summer after more than 30 years at Penn State Hazleton.

Penn State Hazleton’s Undergraduate Research committee has announced the winners of the campus’ 2024 Undergraduate Research Symposium. Held from April 1 to 5 at the Mary M. and Bertil E. Lofstrom Library, the symposium showcased student research or scholarly work performed with Penn State Hazleton faculty members. Works were submitted in two categories: arts, humanities and social sciences and science, technology, engineering and math.
Five adult learners were inducted into Penn State Hazleton’s Phi Sigma chapter of the Alpha Sigma Lambda Honor Society at its 21st annual induction ceremony on Monday, April 8.
Filmmaker and Texas Christian University Professor of Dance Suki John will visit Penn State Hazleton on Thursday, April 18, to present her film detailing the experiences of her family before, during and after the Holocaust. The free event will be held at 1:30 p.m. in room 115 of the Evelyn Graham Academic Building and via Zoom. The event is open to the public.
