Comic-book series featuring Holocaust heroism focus of free Oct. 19 webinar

HAZLETON, Pa. — Penn State Hazleton will host the lead artist behind a comic-book series dedicated to telling true stories of heroism during the Holocaust at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 19, in Kostos 102. The event is free and open to the public.

The event will feature Marcel Walker, project coordinator, writer and lead artist of “Chutz-Pow! Superheroes of the Holocaust,” and Lauren Bairnsfather, director of the Holocaust Center of Pittsburgh, which created and published the ongoing series.

The series focuses on “telling true-life stories of heroic survivors who brought light into some of the darkest recesses of World War II,” according to the Holocaust Center of Pittsburgh.

The event will be held as part of Professor of Sociology Michael Polgar’s Holocaust and Human Rights course.
