HAZLETON, Pa. — #GivingTuesday — held the Tuesday after Thanksgiving — is Nov. 27 this year and Penn State Hazleton supporters are invited to make a gift in honor of the day that celebrates the power of giving back. Penn State will begin the campaign at 6:55 p.m. EST (18:55 in military time, representing the year of Penn State's founding) on Nov. 26 until midnight on Nov. 27.

Penn State graduates of the last decade (GOLD) who support a #GivingTuesday campaign with a gift of $5 or more will receive a 1:1 match from the University, up to $100.

Contributions to Penn State Hazleton made during #GivingTuesday will support the Student Emergency Fund, which aids students experiencing extraordinary and often unexpected hardships that affect their ability to cover the costs of their education, such as food, housing, transportation, tuition and books.

“College is meant to be a time when students are challenged — to learn, to grow, to succeed," said campus Director of Development Christen Reese. "The challenges facing some undergraduates can seem overwhelming, however; hard work alone may not be enough to overcome the impact of a family member’s job loss, illness or death. Ambition and dedication can be overwhelmed by special circumstances beyond the student’s control."
