Career services coordinator named

Kaitlyn Krasucki has been hired as a career services coordinator at Penn State Hazleton, Chancellor Gary M. Lawler announced.

In her new position, she will provide career counseling to undergraduate students and alumni on topics including career exploration and planning, resume and cover letter writing, interviewing skills, internship and job search preparation, and selecting and applying to graduate school programs.

"We're excited to have Kaitlyn join the Penn State Hazleton team and provide this important service to our students and alumni. Career services is a particularly valuable benefit for the students enrolled in our two-year and four-year degree programs, who will be seeking career or higher education guidance as they complete their degrees. Her experience in counseling and planning career-services events is a valuable asset," Lawler said.

Krasucki said, "Penn State provides numerous career services resources for students that I'm happy to help facilitate. No two students are the same. They might have similar needs but be in different disciplines from major to major. I'm here to assist with whatever career services needs they might have, whether they've never had a résumé before or are seeking their first post-college position."

Prior to joining the staff at Penn State Hazleton, Krasucki worked as an alumni career counselor at Penn State University Park. In that role, she advised alumni in all elements of career decision-making and the employment search process, including job search strategies, career planning, networking and résumé writing. She worked with alumni of all ages in various stages of life, including recent graduates, adults in transition and veterans seeking employment in the civilian workforce.

"I really enjoy working one-on-one with students and alumni and look forward to developing relationships with students at Penn State Hazleton," she said. "It's a great experience to be able to see the natural progression of students using career services, from their first year when they may not even have chosen a major, to their final year when they need assistance with a job search."

Academic Advising Manager Karen Sofranko said, "Kaitlyn will collaborate with faculty and staff to provide high-quality career services and determine the services and programs we offer. Her abilities and the beneficial services she contributes will complement the Penn State Hazleton team's personalized approach to interaction with students."

Krasucki will organize and present workshops and programs on topics such as creating a resume, dressing for success, preparing for a career fair and interviewing skills.

She holds a bachelor's degree in communication studies and a master's degree in counseling and college student affairs, both from Bloomsburg University.
