Hazleton's student-championed Center for Multicultural Engagement holds opening

A new student-championed space at Penn State Hazleton dedicated to diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging celebrated its official grand opening on Sept. 26. The Center for Multicultural Engagement is a student fee-funded project that created student education, collaboration, performance, study and socialization spaces, as well as a gallery and library.

Kellina Yarrish joins Hazleton student engagement team as associate director

Kellina Yarrish will support the University’s commitment to student growth and development by providing oversight and direction for student engagement, including clubs and organizations, and co-curricular activities and events. She will also oversee international student support, multicultural affairs and programming, and the residence life program, including the residence hall staff and resident assistants, while managing the student conduct process and directing the campus’ student diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts.

Community invited to Trunk-or-Treat at Penn State Hazleton on Oct. 24

Community members are invited to put on their costumes and come celebrate Halloween at Penn State Hazleton’s Trunk-or-Treat event from 5 to 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 24. The event is sponsored and organized by the Penn State Hazleton Lion Ambassadors, a student-led organization that promotes Penn State and its interests and goals among current and future students, alumni and friends.

Penn State Day Open House set for Oct. 7 at Penn State Hazleton

Prospective students and their families are invited to visit Penn State Hazleton for its Penn State Day Open House on Saturday, Oct. 7. The visit will include a presentation about all things Penn State, activities, specialized breakout sessions, a campus tour, and opportunities to have questions about academic programs, campus life and more answered by current students, faculty and staff.

Penn State Hazleton welcomes student engagement and residence life coordinator

Mikayla Blakeslee has been hired as coordinator of residence life and student engagement at Penn State Hazleton, where she will be responsible for assisting with the planning, implementation and evaluation of the campus’ residence life program and student activities and services focused on student engagement, community service, and diversity and inclusion programming, among other duties.
