Six faculty members receive 2026 Atherton Award for Excellence in Teaching

Six Penn State faculty members have received the 2026 George W. Atherton Award for Excellence in Teaching. They are Brianna Blackburn, instructor in nursing in the Ross and Carol Nese College of Nursing; Lisa Goguen, program coordinator and associate professor of psychology at Penn State Hazleton; Joseph Houck, teaching professor of chemistry in the Eberly College of Science; Lisa Mangel, assistant teaching professor of biology and elementary and early childhood education programs at Penn State Behrend; Michael Mashtare, assistant professor of agricultural and biological engineering in the College of Agricultural Sciences and Elizabeth Womack, associate professor of English at Penn State Brandywine.

Commonwealth Campus faculty honored for excellence

Five faculty members were honored with awards at the end of the spring semester – three given by the University College for research, teaching and service, and two from the Office of the Vice President for Commonwealth Campuses in recognition of innovative teaching practices to enhance student learning.

Six Penn Staters named 2024-25 BTAA Academic Leadership Program Fellows

The Big Ten Academic Alliance's Academic Leadership Program in 2024-25 will include six new fellows from Penn State. The BTAA is the academic consortium of the Big Ten universities and the United States’ preeminent model for effective collaboration among research universities. The Academic Leadership Program focuses on addressing the challenges of academic administration at major research universities.
