A predicted winter snowstorm has caused Penn State Hazleton to cancel classes, activities and work beginning at 5:00 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 26, until 5:00 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 27. The campus community is asked to avoid coming to campus on Sunday, Jan. 25, to allow Maintenance to clear roads and parking lots.
Holocaust and genocide scholar, educator, author, and member of the Religious Sisters of Mercy, Carol Rittner will be the guest speaker at a free, public luncheon and presentation to mark International Holocaust Remembrance Day on Thursday, Jan. 29, in the Center for Multicultural Engagement, 103 Charles T. Butler Teaching and Learning Resource Center at Penn State Hazleton. Following the lunch, Rittner will speak to students in history and sociology classes and guests in 109 Evelyn Graham Academic Building. Her presentation is titled “This Time: Teaching the Holocaust Today.”
Events and activities commemorating the life and legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. will be held over the next few weeks at several Penn State campuses. The theme for 2026 is "Undaunted Hope."
Graduates of Penn State Hazleton’s practical nursing program were recognized during a ceremony on Tuesday, Dec. 16, in the Dr. Thomas M. Caccese Gymnasium of the Physical Education Building. The class received their nursing pins and certificates, marking their completion of the 18-month program.

A $950,000 gift from a philanthropist will enable academically qualified, area high school students to take courses free of charge, earning college credits and early exposure to university-level learning. Starting in spring 2026, the dual enrollment program at Penn State Hazleton will expand access to higher education by covering tuition and providing students with academic support and college readiness resources.
Penn State Hazleton's annual trick-or-treat night is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 28, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. on the Sports and Recreation Field at the campus. The event is organized by the Penn State Hazleton Lion Ambassadors and sponsored by the Hazleton Chapter of the Penn State Alumni Association, the Penn State Hazleton Alumni Society, Hershey and Amazon AVP1.
