Penn State Regional Chancellor Menah Pratt speaks at the Wilkes-Barre campus, highlighting a piece of art on loan from the Hazleton Art League. The piece, "Immortal Splendor" by Gary Jones, is an artistic rendering of a quote: "There in immortal splendor Wilkes-Barre will remain." It was inspired by Frederick Douglass' response to an 1853 incident in Wilkes-Barre involving William Thomas, who had escaped from slavery and sought freedom in Wilkes-Barre.
