Penn State Hazleton’s Academic Achievement Awards ceremony honored 200 students for high scholastic achievement on May 5. Faculty members were also recognized for excellence in teaching, advising, research and technology integration.
Elizabeth Wright, director of academic affairs at Penn State Hazleton, has been named a recipient of the Penn State Commission for Women 2016 Achieving Women Award in the Administrator category.

Chancellor Gary Lawler announced Thursday that Tracy Biehl has been named the head coach of Lady Lions volleyball at Penn State Hazleton for the 2016 season.
“We welcome Tracy to the Penn State Hazleton athletic staff and are certain that her experience, drive and concern for her players will be contributing factors to the continuing success of our women’s volleyball team,” Lawler said.
JJ LaRose, who earned a bachelor of science degree in business with a concentration in marketing and management at Penn State Hazleton, is the new manager of marketing and promotions at Pocono Raceway.
Susan Russell has been announced as the commencement speaker at Penn State Hazleton. Commencement will take place at 7 p.m. May 6 in the Dr. Thomas M. Caccese Gymnasium in the Physical Education Building.
Penn State Hazleton, an authorized provider of American Red Cross programs, will offer courses for lifeguards to become certified and recertified through the American Red Cross in April.
