The Engineering Leadership Credit Certificate Program provides engineering professionals with the opportunity to learn critical leadership skills needed in today's global economy to:

Classes delivered online at Penn State Hazleton.
Classes begin January 9, 2017.
ENGR 405 - Project Management for Professionals 3 credits
Covers the essential concepts and skills needed to make effective contributions on projects, on time, and within budget.
ENGR 408 - Leadership Principles 3 credits
This course focuses on leadership concepts, principles, theories and relevant literature. The material presented facilitates the practical application of knowledge to future leadership, and emphasizes oral and written skills development.
ENGR 409 - Leadership in Organizations 3 credits
This course focuses on developing a deeper understanding and the skills associated with important facets of leadership in organizations and how they relate to business in technical fields. This course includes analysis of best practices of exemplary organizations, as well as a review of process improvement methodologies, such as Lean/Six Sigma.
Location and Delivery
This certificate will be delivered one course at a time in the following order: ENGR 405, ENGR 408 and ENGR 409. Completion of 3 courses or 9 total credits is possible within one calendar year. Delivery will be primarily online using Penn State’s online course management system with 4 or 5 “live” or “in-person” classes at Penn State Wilkes-Barre in Lehman each semester. For the “in person” classes, live interactive video will be available at Penn State Hazleton, Penn State Worthington Scranton and the Northern Tier center.

The Leadership for Engineers Certificate Program is designed for engineering
professionals who have recently taken on a leadership role or anticipate one in the future. This program provides essential leadership skills in a conveniently assembled credit certificate.
Tuition reimbursement from your employer is accepted with verification of eligibility.

Admission to Certificate Programs
An undergraduate engineering degree in any discipline is a prerequisite. The courses must be taken in order as a student in a cohort group attending this certificate program. No course transfers will be accepted into this integrated series of customized courses on Leadership for Engineers. No formal application to Penn State is required, but those interested in enrolling must complete a non-degree form.
