Penn State Hazleton hires student advocacy specialist

Karen Beruck has been hired as a student advocacy specialist at Penn State Hazleton. She will provide administrative support to the academic affairs team and work with students and parents to assist with their academic and educational needs.
The library at Penn State Hazleton will be named after Mary and Bertil Lofstrom during a ceremony on September 13.

Penn State trustees approve Hazleton campus library name

During its meeting on July 21 in Harrisburg, Penn State’s Board of Trustees approved the naming of the library at Penn State Hazleton as the Mary M. and Bertil E. Lofstrom Library in honor of longtime campus supporters. A naming ceremony will be held in front of the library on Wednesday, Sept. 13.

Penn State Hazleton library named Mary M. and Bertil E. Lofstrom Library

Penn State Hazleton formally named its library the Mary M. and Bertil E. Lofstrom Library during a ceremony on September 13. The building was named in honor of longtime supporters Mary Lofstrom, who passed away July 2, 2016, and Bert Lofstrom, who attended the ceremony. The naming is the first time a campus building will carry the name of an alumnus.

Campuses host special fundraiser for THON at national championship baseball game

Penn State Hazleton, Penn State Wilkes-Barre and Penn State Worthington Scranton will host a special outreach event on Tuesday, Sept. 19 at the AAA National Championship Baseball Game taking place at PNC Field on Montage Mountain. The event, which is aimed at growing brand awareness and showcasing the impact Penn State makes on Northeast Pennsylvania, will also serve as a fundraiser for THON.

Penn State Hazleton hosting jazz concert Oct. 16

Penn State Hazleton will host a concert featuring jazz performers David Liebman and Bobby Avey on Monday, Oct. 16. Sponsored by the Faculty Lecture Committee, the performance will be held in Room 1 of the Kostos Building beginning at 7:30 p.m. The concert is free and open to the public.
