  • College is very different from high school. College is about taking personal responsibility for your action or inaction, both in and out of the classroom. Help is always available through the TLRC (Teaching & Learning Resource Center) and the Writing Lab.
  • You need to pay your semester bill in order to lock in the courses you’ve scheduled.
  • Your PSU 008 course is an important part of your first semester; take it seriously.
  • Orientation is mandatory. Attend the sessions to give yourself the best possible start to your collegiate career.
  • If you don’t already have one, develop a strong and honest line of communication with your parents as well as your instructors and adviser.
  • Pay attention to deadlines, and go to ALL your classes, EVERY day.
  • If you have academic questions, go to the Advising Center (Lower Level of the Administration Building) for answers; don’t consult your friends. Always consult your adviser or the Advising Center; self-advising is very dangerous.
  • You need to check your Penn State email at least once a day once the semester begins. You will receive Penn State email even before the semester begins.
  • Some of your course times and locations might change by the beginning of the semester. You will need to get a copy of your schedule from eLion right before classes begin.
  • College is your FULL TIME job for at least the next four years.
