Penn State Hazleton THON to host golf tournament to benefit kids with cancer

On Sunday, October 6, Penn State Hazleton THON will sponsor a golf tournament and family luncheon at Sand Springs Country Club as part of Family Weekend for students and family members. The tournament is open to anyone interested in golfing and helping students raise money to combat pediatric cancer.

Check in for the tournament will be held from 7:00 to 8:00 a.m., with a shot gun start at 8:15 a.m. The tournament format consists of a two-person scramble. The $60 per person registration fee includes cart rental, greens fee, hot dog and beverage at the turn, luncheon and prizes. The luncheon will be held immediately following the golf tournament.

THON golf tournament committee members also are seeking hole sponsors and prizes. Contact Ryan Aten, Penn State Hazleton student activities coordinator, at 570-450-3478 or by email at for additional information.

All proceeds benefit the Penn State IFC/Panhellenic Dance Marathon, THON for short, the world’s largest student run philanthropy, which raises money for the fight against pediatric cancer at Penn State Hershey Children’s Hospital. Last year, Penn State students raised more than $12 million.

Register today and help students raise money for kids with cancer. The deadline for registrations is September 27.
